What's the medical or physical requirement for aircraft avionics employee?

Are you an Aircraft Mechanic? Avionics Tech?

  • Which has a higher salary Aircraft Mechanic or Avionics ? Same years of experience. Same airline. Same all.

  • Answer:

Probably about the same pay. But depends on what you want to do with your life. I would suggest becoming an general A&P with a strong background in avionics. It is true that avionics technicians generally have more favorable working conditions because, well honestly they are lazy. Avionics technicians think they are somehow smarter than the rest of the knuckle dragging mechanics. They complain if they have to remove any black boxes from the aircraft as if it is somehow beneath them. I personally would go nuts working in a small room all day while mechanics bring me small black boxes to work on. The reason I love aviation is the fact that I am not in an office. There is no reason why you cannot be both a mechanic and an avionics tech. Get your hands dirty and learn everything you can. You will be more valuable to your employer.

At my airline , Avionics and aircraft mechanics make the same money . Work side by side . It takes both of us to get some problems solved.

I have an A&P, and 1st class FCC. I've worked both aircraft and avionics. The pay rate is the same, and we were on the same seniority list. As I got older, i found that those black boxes weighed less than wheels, brakes and hydraulic actuators, and they lived in a nicer environment.
