Is Florida Institute of Technology a good university?

Oxford Aviation Academy (Australia) or Florida Institute of Technology?

• I just had a question about these two schools. Currently i am obtaining a B.S. in aviation management while at the same time going to flight school. I am starting my JAR-PPL this month in Europe. The school I am going to, I study two years in Europe and then 2 years abroad obtaining dual degrees. I have to do my CPL when i go abroad for my final two years. I have two options, Florida Institute of Technology and Swinburne University of Technology with Oxford Aviation academy. I understand that where i go and obtain my CPL and ratings i will be limited to flying that area unless i convert my license. In the US i will not have the problem of getting a work visa etc since i am a green-card holder in the process of getting my US passport. However, starting salaries in the US are low and it seems much more competitive. Does anyone know where it would be better for me to study? I have already obtained a bank loan in order to pay for my training, now i just have to figure out where i want to go. Is one school better than the other? I have heard with OAA you pay mostly for the name. With which school will i have better chances of getting a job as an airline pilot later in life?

  Definitely with OAA - and get the [f]ATPL with JAA (EASA) - Forget the USA job market - future is extremely limited there - Out of OAA, you could get a job immediately - In USA, you will "build time" next 10 years before a job with major airline - Provided you get hired by a major (200 applicants for 5 open positions) - Your aviation degree is worthless, by the way (for Europe or UK) - It is only required should you seek employment with major US air carriers - I was Brussels-born, had FAA and JAA licences - Flew for Pan American, Cargolux and Aerolineas Argentinas - In this day and age, I would never consider working in USA - Just live with a green card in "inexpensive" Florida, and work in Europe - .
