What is better to join the airforce or the marines to become a commercial airline pilot

    Neither, unless you have a college education and can qualify for their pilot's training program. Enlisted men are not trained as pilots. Both of these services and the Navy have required a college education, as a prerequisite for pilot's training for many years now.

As far as what airlines would value more, air force or marines, it doesn't matter. Both routes can be very rewarding. There are definitely differences between an air force pilot and a marine pilot, plus their day-to-day life differs a lot, but both baths will certainly lead to a good career. As for the comment about you being too old, that's BS. I know of people who have become Air Force pilots in their late 20s. Now, these people did already have a college degree and experience flying civilian jets. They did it by joining the Air National Guard. It wasn't easy for them to get a pilot slot.

> Im a 23 year old male You are too late. The military pilots are one of the most difficult to get into. You also need a commission from a US Congressmen (woman) to to get in. You can't get that easily from England either. To be a military pilot you have to be an officer. To be an officer / pilot you have to goto military college. I believe that getting into Military college is probably harder than getting into Harvard, Priceton, etc. The military colleges are not looking for "johnny come lately" who is ONLY thinking about flying careers. === They want somebody who have been planning to be military officers early. At 23 you are already an adult that too many adult ideas to be molded into their image. Good Luck...

well you can join either branch if you want. then use the GI bill to get your college degree. in which case the Army pays out the most right now. only way for commercial pilot these days is to have a degree.. so your options are get your private license gain some hours go to college for aviation related courses get your multi engine rating then hope to god you can get on with a cargo flying company to gain your hours on multi engine then fly the smaller regional jets for a few more years till some old fart commercial pilot gets his rating taken away for being to blind then you will be in the limelight.. that sounds bad i know but most of what i have said is true and with the aviation industry going the way it is your better off just buying a business class jet and chartering it out

Airforce. Join with a college degree and join to fly transport category airplanes - if they accept you, you'll be well on your way. Then again if that's your goal, you could just go to PAN AM, Comair academy, Embry Riddle Universiry or flight safety, and go directly into the airlines. This might be the most effective route if flying for the airlines is your ultimate goal.

Whether you join the airforce or marines may not make any difference - less (far less) than 1 percent of the personnel in either ever get flight training. Chances are you could NOT join either anyway as you will be a foreign national not an American Citizen.
