How do do I apply for a class first medical at Gatwick?

    01293 573700 If you ultimately want to hold a CPL, then I would suggest getting a Class 1 medical is the best course of action. Otherwise you could end up wasting a lot of time/money/effort for nothing. If you only intend on getting a PPL, then Class 2 is all you need. If you only need Class 2, then you do not need to go to the CAA at Gatwick. You can do it a local authorised AME, which will be much cheaper.

For PPL you do not require a 1st Class Medical - You need a 2nd Class - Call then on the phone to get an appointment - http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=49&pagetype=68&gid=211 I do not know the price of a 2nd Class - I would guess £150 - Ask them - The price of initial 1st class is £400 - .
