No military please!

  • Answer:

Have you checked with TSTC in WACO? The requirements are not that difficult to meet as far as entrance is concerned! If you have a diploma, you can probably attend! The cost of a state owned, faa approved, "academy" is probably 1/2 of any private school. If you read L3's information http://www.link.com/ATC/faq.html "Is your course of instruction approved by the FAA? No. Given our course of instruction includes on-the-job training it is unique and the FAA has not yet established criteria for such a program. " So no it is not an approved program. Dennison is only slightly closer than Waco from Dallas. TSTC is a STATE school and will accept Texas Residents at in state tution rates. Call them http://www.waco.tstc.edu/

I went through an FAA approved CTI program. At the time, there were only 13 approved schools in the country. I know there are many "newly" approved programs out there. The FAA's site will show schools that are approved. The schools themselves should also declare that they are an approved CTI school. Best advice: Pick the program that will be the cheapest and quickest to get done. EVERYONE ends up at the same place, and you'll learn what you really need to at the Academy. I learned JACK at my CTI program (Miami). BUT... I had NO debt and finished the 2-yr program in just over 1 year. Hired 8 months later. Good luck. I worked at both a Tower/Tracon and also a Center with the FAA. Definitely not a job for everyone. After 4 years, I opted to pursue other interests.
