How old do you have to be to fly a gyrocopter/autogyro?

• i want to know how old do you have to be to fly a gyrocopter (im a teenager), do you need a special license. i have never flone anything in my life, im just very interested in the gyrocopter. is there anything i have to do to fly this, do i need to register it for anything. can i take off in my front yard.   Most gyrocopters and their pilots must be certified and licensed, although a true single seat ultralight requires no license to fly (assuming it meets the requirements of Part 103 for an ultralight aircraft). Otherwise, you must be the same age as to fly a fixed wing aircraft. 16 to solo, 17 to be licensed. Any age to take lessons. It requires special licensing specifically for gyrocopters from an instructor who is rated to teach in them. You don't need lessons to fly an ultralight, but only a fool would attempt doing so without training. In most cases you cannot fly from your yard.
