How can i get wifi through bluetooth on my phone?

Electronic equipment (bluetooth/wifi), flying with Monarch?

  • Hi, I'm flying with Monarch this Tuesday. Can I use a mobile phone (Apple iPhone) with flight mode enabled during the flight (excluding take-off & landing)? I know most carriers allow you, but I've flown with a few airlines who say you mustn't use a phone, even if it has flight mode. Also, I have a laptop with some films on I want to watch through-out the flight, but whenever you turn it on it enables wifi & bluetooth. You can turn them off once the PC is switched on, but that means they will still have to be on for a bit until I get a chance to switch them off. Will it be safe to do that? The alternative would be to turn on my laptop at the airport, turn wifi & bluetooth off, and then but it into sleep mode, so when I wake it up on the plane they remain off. But if it's in sleep mode, isn't it technically on, meaning I can't have it on sleep for take-off? Thanks

  • Answer:

Basically Bluetooth is a radio based communications similar to WIFI. You should follow the directions and turn them off (or put phones in 'airplane mode' when asked. There are a couple of 'sleep modes' for laptops. One keeps the memory alive and doesn't turn off power, but reduces the rate of consumption (this mode is good for several hours up to a day before batteries run out). And the other puts a copy of memory on disk and really turns off the hardware (this mode can last much longer.
