How does standby work with airlines??

How well do I have to speak French if I want to work for Canadian airlines as a flight attendant?

  • How well?? To what extent? As much as I can deal in a flight situation? And as much I can announce in flight?

  • Answer:

French is not a stated requirement but expect about a 30 year wait to be selected if you're not fluent. The exact words are "Priority will be given to candidates completely fluent in English and French"

Canada is a bilingual country - English-French - I am certain that both languages are required for all flight attendants - And quite fluent... cabin service, and emergencies (i.e. evacuation) - With my airline, the flight attendants spoke 3 or even 4 languages - Mandarin (or sometimes Cantonese), is often appreciated for Vancouver base - Expect to have to speak English and French during your interview - There are numerous applicants, they can afford to hire bilingual F/As only - .

Canada is unusual in that 90% of the population cannot qualify for most jobs because we are being hamstrung by the 5% of our population who steadfastly refuse to learn English. These people, who don't even want to be a part of this country, get to dictate to the rest of us. They are a constant thorn in the side of English speaking majority and a drain on our resources. ...................... and, yes; you have to speak the forking French to get a job with Air Canada. And you have to be a minority. And if your gay you're an automatic shoe in for the job.
