Does a 4 year old child need a state id to fly on an airplane?

My ex told me our daughter needs a state id before she can fly on an airplane

I am a flight attendant and the answer is no she needs no form of identification for a domestic flight.

I would suggest to have her birth certificate with you just to be safe. You can get travel information on these two sites: http://www.tsa.gov/ and http://travel.state.gov/passport/ Hope this helps and have a great trip!

It wouldn't hurt, but if you (the mother) are flying with her, a birth certificate will do. My 10 year old and I fly with my DL and her birth certificate.

No, anyone under the age of 16 traveling with a parent or guardian is not required to have any means if I.D., if traveling internationaly, they will need a passport with the new laws regarding that...
