How can i apply for a job at O'hare airport?

Plane Spotting in general and at Chicago Ohare Airport.?

  • I was wondering if there are any places at Ohare International Airport for plane spotters. Is there a good street to park at or does Ohare provide an observation deck to view incoming and outgoing planes. I am very interested in plane spotting and would like to get started. If anyone has any tips or advice for me please feel free to answer as well. Thank You

You might want to stop in at Signature Flight Support. It's the General Aviation "terminal" at O'Hare. They may or may not let you go out on the ramp. You'll see some of the big airplanes but those are a dime a dozen and you can see them anywhere. What you will see is lots of smaller airplanes and private jets. On the other hand O'Hare is about the worse place to go just to look at airplanes. You should find a smaller commuter airport because it's easier to get closer to the planes. You can try Atlantic Aviation at Midway. From their parking lot you can see planes of all sizes coming and going, and they might let you out on the ramp. You might also try the terminal at DuPage. There's a big window with a good view of the airport. Or go across to the pilot shop on the other side of the airport. You can sit at their picnic table and drink a coke and watch airplanes. I'm not a Chicagoan -- other locals might have better ideas. I fly into all of these airports and I'm just giving you my advice based on the places I fly into.

American Airlines Admirals Club has a great view of the aiport with arriving and departing flights. Of course you have to be flying on American and have to pay the fee if you are not a frequent flier member.

Sadly most airports tell you where you can't do plane spotting not where you can. Best to find a suitable place off airport near the end of the runway.

In general, since 9/11 this practice is frowned on by airport and Homeland security authorities. If you get close enough to the airport and planes landing and taking off, it is highly likely that you will be harassed by the officials.

I suggest searching around for a parking lot at least a half mile from the airport's boundaries. Like a previous answer said, if you get too close to the airport, you might be viewed as someone suspicious. Remember though, a great spot for viewing one day may not offer anything at all the next. O'Hare has several runways, and the direction of air traffic changes regularly, depending on wind direction.
