I want to become a pilot?

I want TO know which route is best to become an airline pilot?

• Im going to try and keep it short. Basically Im currently a high school senior, I'm about to join the navy. Im using the navy to pay for school, i want to become a airline pilot. I'm scared to tell my recruiter because i dont want to fly a fighter jet. My question basically is what it be better to go in reserved or active duty? i know if i chose reserved the amount of money i receive for school is not as high as active duty. Im not in a rush to become a pilot but i dont want to wait 10 years either (unless i have to). I want to know the cheapest and best way to become an airline pilot.

  Learning to fly isn't a bad start. There are far more applicants than there are available pilot vacancies, even in the Navy. Assuming you meet the physical and skill requirements (do you?), it's a matter of luck after that. Why not join the Air Force? Their main function is flying planes, after all, a sideline for the Navy. Most of us go to school. If you need to work and go to school part time, so be it. That's what I'm doing. Many people work as instructors to bridge the gap between a shiny new CPL and the hours little regional puddle-jumper airlines want for rampies and co-pilots. The Mom and Pop school at your local GA airport can teach you to fly just as well as anybody - they are regulated by the same people (FAA/Transport Canada/etc.), and must meet the same standards.
