Can I get paid for mandatory training?

Do air traffic controllers get paid during the 3 month training period? If so, how much?

  • I have an acquaintance who is training on Oklahoma City for ATC. It is very intriguing to me, but I didn't want to rude and ask to many nosy questions. But I want to know if the training is paid training, and how much he's getting paid for it.

  • Answer:

$17,540 while completing entry level training at the FAA Academy. The pay increases to $33,700 after reporting to an assigned facility and continues to increase as each required developmental training phase is completed. Academy students are reimbursed for meals, lodging, and incidental expenses at a rate of $79.20 per day. The FAA also pays for the cost of travel to and from Oklahoma City based on the student's official address.
