How can an airplane fly upside down?

How many miles does an Airplane fly in one minute?

  • What is the mileage of an airplane flying at one minute? I just want to know how many miles an airplane can fly in a minute. Or just a ratio of the time and mileage. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Commercial jets fly about 400-500 Miles per hour. So it would fly about 75 miles in a minute.

It depends how fast they're going. Usually from 8-10 miles per minute once they are at the right altitude.

It really depends on the aircraft, & if you are asking about airspeed, or groundspeed. Once an aircraft has left the ground it is moving through a pocket of air. It's movement can be tracked relative to the ground but usually we only measure the speed of the aircraft relative to the air, or in airspeed. If an aircraft was travelling into a headwind of 50 miles per hour, & the aircrafts airspeed was only 50 miles per hour, then the aircrafts groundspeed would be 0 miles per hour just as an example. Now if the same aircraft were to turn around & fly with tailwind of 50 miles per hour then the aircrafts groundspeed would now be 100 miles per hour. As you know there are different wind conditions for any given day, plus the wind speeds vary at different altitudes. Most of the time, wind speeds will increase with altitude, but that always isn't the rule. Mix in with that the fact that different aircraft fly at different airspeeds, & it really makes your question unanswerable since you need to be more specific about the type & class of the airplane you want to know about, plus the intended direction that the aircraft is going to travel, what altitude the aircraft is going to cruise at, plus what day it is going to fly since the forecast upper winds could be different from one day to the next.

About 6 or 7 miles per minute.

If you mean in mph. It is simple if you mean top speed of a type just take that miles an hour and divide it by sixty. If you mean by the rate it is flying at a given time, take it's given airspeed and subtract a headwind, then divide by sixty. But it will be in Knots, nautical speed not MPH for many individual aircraft types, especially older ones. Today for most modern aircraft that are military, and civil, a computer does it or GPS system. Tells you where you are all the time. This would only be an issue for something pretty old. In the metric system it would be Kilometers per hour.

Roughly 800km/h for a commercial plane or 13.3 km/min or 8.3 mi/m

If you mean a jetliner, if we take the average speed to be 600 miles per hour, then a jetliner would fly about 10 miles per minute.

Eagleflyer

Depends on the airplane. One I flew 2 miles a minute maximum, one 2 miles a minute landing speed. An airplane flying a 600 mph is going 10 miles per minute.

eferrell01

Depends on the plane

snidy

Depends on the plane. Most planes would have to be flying at least 2 miles per minute to stay airborne. Although top speed is classified, it is known that an SR-71 Blackbird can attain 33 miles per minute. Most commercial airliners can do 8 to 10 miles per minute at top speed.
