How can an airplane fly upside down?

How hard is it to learn how to fly an airplane?

  • I want to learn to fly one, just to have the knowledge of how to, in case I am able to get money to afford to buy a real plane, but how hard is it to fly one? I mean a small one not a big commercial airliner

Hey, If you are passionate about flying, you will succeed no matter what! Overall the practical aspect of learning how to fly is relatively easy, fun, and exciting. You will learn various maneuvers from the basics all the way up to advanced air-work. That being said, with flight training comes ground school. Ground school is a minimum of 40 hours in class. Here you will learn a lot about theory of flight, air law, human factors, aircraft instruments, navigation, meteorology, engines and airframes etc. Once you have completed ground school you will be required to pass a Ministry exam (PPAER in Canada) which tests you on four subjects; Air Law, General Knowledge, Meteorology, and Navigation. As far as mathematics are involved, the math is all pretty basic. Although there are some tricky formulas, once you figure it out and get it, you'll be fine. If you do feel as though you are having a lot of trouble with it then you can ALWAYS consult your flight instructor. He/She will be your mentor throughout your training! As long as you are not planning on joining the Air Force, it is ok if you have a less than 20/20 vision so long as your vision is corrected to 20/20. You will have to complete a medical examination which is basically a physical except for; they check your heart on an ECG, check your colour vision, hearing, and glucose levels. Before you make any decisions, I suggest that you go to a close by flight school and book an introductory (familiarization flight). Here you will be paired up with an instructor, and the instructor will show you how to do a walk around, go over safety procedures with you and then take you up to the local practice area and even give you a chance to Pilot the aircraft!! ^_^ I'd say follow your heart! It is a journey that is worth beginning! Good Luck ...btw no reefer; you'll be tested

I did it. It was harder than I thought. Somewhere between riding a motorcycle and playing the piano. 8^) Some parts are harder than others, and it depends on the person. It's really fun though. Quite an adventure. Flying just got too expensive for me. And it's more now because of the cost of gas. To get your license you have to take this class that covers just everything. Weather, how engines work, weight and balance, air pressure, navigation, aerodynamics, how the radio works, lots of stuff. It's all on the exam too! I can tell the difference between hypoxia and carbon monoxide poisoning. 8^)

Learning to fly "basics" a little private plane is not too difficult - It is just slightly more involved than learning to drive a car - It took me about 12 lessons of 1 hour duration to fly "alone" the first time - We call that "flying solo" (without the instructor being inside the airplane) - Some who like to learn to fly for fun take as little as 3 months to get a pilot license - For airline pilots, it takes them 2 years from start to become co-pilot - Thereafter it takes them few years to become captain (because of seniority) - But really, in about 2 years of being a co-pilot, they could be captain... .

It depends on the person. I soloed an ultralight at 17 years old after about an hour of practice hops. So it seemed kind of easy for me. Then I went through formal flight training private instrument commercial multi flight instructor and most of that was more difficult. Learning to actually fly is not hard. The Air Force taught monkeys to fly in simulators. The hard part is all the written tests and then practical test were the examiner is not too worried about how you fly, but mainly he's looking at your judgment.

I'm now a pilot student and I'm going to tell you that it really tough to learn to fly an airplane. You need to have patience. Lots of it. You have to learn the technical terms, math, parts of the plane (exterior and interior), mechanical and more. You also need to have a good eye sight. Courses can be tough but you will have an opportunity to test flight with a flight trainer or all by yourself. It takes courage and passion. Good luck!

with the pot leaf logo you have there, i have to tell you that it will be much harder to learn if you are stoned. im taking lessons now and can tell you that there is no drug test for a ppl. it might be a good idea to not be smoking weed if you want to be a pilot though. you will have a lot of studying to do and it will be much easier if you are sober. also, the money you save on buying pot will go towards pating for your lessons.
