When an ATC says "When you can, Advised to B and B Please" What does He/She Mean?
-
I was watching a short video on you tube of a Bird Getting stuck in an Aircrafts Engine during Take-off. You could hear the ATC and the Pilot talking (off an Air band Radio). Once the Pilot had Said "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, Thomson 253 we have an Engine Failure" the ATC Later on said "Thomson 253, When you can, Advised to B and B Please". So what does the ATC mean by "B and B"? Thanks

Answer:
I'm a pilot and haven't heard of "B and B". If the pilot has declared an emergency, then s/he can do whatever is necessary (even break the rules) for the safety of the flight. Please post the URL and I'll be happy to look at it and listen to it. PS: Elliot sent me the link. Here it is: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=11056774 I must admit that ATC is clearly saying "B and B" and, after llistening to it several times, I admit that I'm stumped. Perhaps B and B is some company term? PPS: It was about 2/3 the way through after ATC said all runways were available to the pilot. Then, about 3-5 seconds later, ATC said, When you can, avise B and B please." As an aside, it's a shame that I can't download the file... I'd love to play it for my CFI. ;-) PPSS: Here's a wild thought. Maybe it's "Advise B on B" as in bodies on board. In the US, we'd say "souls on board" and I don't think the UK would be different but I'm really not certain. Just a guess! If/When I get more definitive information, I'll post here.

After almost four decades of flying I've never heard that one. Post the youtube link and I'll take a look if you want.

Doesn't sound familiar to me either. Try posting it and we'll all listen. Edit: I found the Youtube video and listened but I did not hear anything that sounded like that. Later: OK, somebody heard it. Where is it on the video. Maybe I could hear it on another computer than my laptop. OK, the reason I could not find it is it has been edited off of the Youtube video. I did hear it on the myspace vid and I am just as confused as everyone else.
