How can I become a Disney Monorail Pilot?

What should I do to become a pilot?

  • I'm 14 and I live in Iowa and ive always wanted to become a pilot,but i have one problem. My parents won't take me to pilot school or anything to even prepare me to become a pilot. I know im young and i have my whole life ahead of me but i would rather start now than later so i become a successful pilot. The only thing i have done right now is watch shows and movies and ive read a ton of books of how to fly and become an excellent pilot. So please tell me what i can do. and yes i have asked my parents to take me to some places but they just ignore me and want me to put myself to use instead of being a pilot.

    Your only 14... For now just take up preferably a motor sport.. Get a dirt bike, get into go karting.. Take up a hobby that involved mechanics,. such as r/c cars.. (proper ones) And take up a musical instrument.. Work on your procedures and co-ordination... And concentrate on school... Without school you wont get far as a pilot

Looks like you will have to wait until age 18 - So your parents will be unable to say "NO" - Hopefully, you piggy bank will have a lot of $$$ in it - Pilot training is extremely expensive - And there are but a few jobs as pilot - and many well qualified candidates - Except if you can live on a monthly salary of $1,000 as instructor pilot - How about college and AF ROTC...? And meanwhile, being a top student in maths and physics classes...? .

I don't know, but my 4 year old granddaughter whines less. I will ask her if she wants to be a pilot.

Since you can't even solo until you are 16 you still have some time to go. If you really want to be a pilot buckle down on school, pilots these days need 4 year degrees from college to even be considered by an airline, that gives you more time. Study hard at math and science and geography, pick a good major for college. There are several community colleges in Iowa with flight training http://www.bestaviation.net/flight_school/iowa/ just be sure you can get into one. Don't major in flying, pick education business, engineering so you have a skill for those times you can't fly!
