Don't make your father pay for everything. It will make you feel guilty, unless you will repay him in the future. First off, you need a ton, no sorry, TONS of money, time, patience, and, some more money. Becoming a major airline pilot is no easy task. There was an opening for a job as a pilot at an airline, 1,000 applied, all qualified equally, the old guy got it. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) seniority plays a role in flying planes. It is a good thing, because a pilot with 1,000 hours might not be as good as a pilot with 4,000 hours, but you never know. This next part is directly from ehow.com. I read this article and it's 100% true. Also, if you're becoming a pilot for the salary, you're in for a surprise. Major airline pilots ferry passengers in large aircraft across countries, continents and oceans. These highly-trained professionals ensure the safety of their passengers, fellow airline crew members and others in the air and on the ground. Due to their great responsibility, major airline pilots are often rewarded handsomely. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, airline pilots earned an average of $81,580 to $150,480 as of May 2008. Additionally, airline pilots receive travel benefits allowing them to fly anywhere in the world at very low cost. With hard work, dedication and years of sacrifice, you can become a major airline pilot. Difficulty: Challenging Instructions 1. Visit a Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, certified aviation medical examiner and receive an examination for a first-class medical certificate. Pilots must have a first-class medical certificate to fly for the airlines. This certificate signals that pilots are in excellent health and have 20-20 vision and perfect hearing. Additionally, in order to qualify for a first-class medical, pilots must be free of mental illness, cancer, heart disease and any seizure activity. 2. Begin flight training at an FAA-certified flight training center. Choose a flight school that offers advanced pilot training. You will need to earn a private pilot certificate, commercial pilot certificate and instrument rating to fly professionally. 3. Find an entry-level flying job. Many new pilots fly small cargo aircraft, banner-towing planes or regional airliners to gain flight experience. 4. Earn an airline transport pilot, or ATP, certificate, which you will need to act as an airline captain. In order to test for this license, you need to be at least 23 years old, have 1,500 hours of flight time and an instrument rating, and you must pass a written test and flight test. 5. Build flying time. Major airlines will not hire a pilot unless she meets the airline's minimum flight time requirements. Typically, major airlines require new-hire pilots to have at least 2,000 hours of total flying time. 6. Interview for a major airline position. In addition to a typical job interview, you must pass an aviation knowledge test as well as a flight test in a cockpit simulator. You should receive a hiring decision within a few weeks of interviewing. 7. Pass the airline's initial pilot training class. Major airlines require new-hire pilots to pass a several-week, rigorous training course prior to starting their jobs. Inquite for training at CTC Wings - (google it) when you are nearing age 18 - Also have a look at Oxford Flight Academy - You will need GCE "A" levels in Math, Physics, Geography and English - And... Airlines will not hire you if you do not have proper spelling in your C.V. -

Do good in Math, Science and geography. Complete at least 4 years in college, Go to flying school, work in the Air Force, and then you can apply for a job in a airline as a First Officer. Then you have to wait to get promoted to pilot.

Kisho, I admire your ambition BUT you get "panicy" and type to fast. What are you going to do when the alarms on the aircraft go off? May I suggest you join the Air Cadets - see http://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets/ See if you have what it takes to fly. English is the universal language of the air. You may wish to continue your English studies.

Perhaps you could consider continuing your education for a few more years, because it is always good to have back up plans. In the meantime I would join the Air Cadets which you can do up until your are 18 and three quarters, and in which time you will be allowed to fly gliders etc, as well as learning the components of different aircraft from Gliders, to Fast Jets, to Multi-Engine Transport Aircraft. This will give you a taste of aeronautical jobs. I would then consider joining the RAF as a Multi-Engine Pilot, where you will be tcould fly Multi-Engine planes such as C-130 Hercules, TriStar passenger planes and some Recon planes. Your flight training would be paid for by the RAF in return for a minimum amount of service. You would then have the qualifications needed to obtain your Civillian Pilots Licence and join a Major Airline.
