Will using a lamp to control the light on a plant affect its growth?
-
I am doing a Biology EEI for school and I wanted to change the variable of light. I was planning on having one plant with full sunlight, one with filtered light and one in complete darkness. If I was to use a lamp to make sure that the plants were in direct light during the day, would the heat from the lamp affect the plant? Or would it by like the sun, sometimes its really hot and sometimes its cold because of the wind. If this will not work well, what are some other variables that I could change for this experiment that can be done with relative ease?

You can put a protective barrier between the plant and the light to remove this variable. A piece of transparent plastic, or plastic wrap, or whatever. The lamp's light should be an adequate substitute for sunlight. What heat does is increases transpiration. So for all your plants try to keep them in similar temperatures to correct this.

Defiinitely. I'd suggest a 'control group' of plants that all get the same amount of light. You could also change the moisture available, but that makes it a much more difficult experiment.
