The only differences are associated with the variety of plant grown. To grow a field of ornamentals is a crop. Whether one eats it or looks at it, a crop is a crop. Growing Azaleas in your yard is no different than growing an acre of them, for all that. The only difference is that there are more and one needs to consider the care of any monoculture. Azaleas or blueberries, petunias or lettuce, all the same.
