What is the molecular weight/molar mass of the oil extracted from Chlorella vulgaris microalgae?
-
I'm studying about the catalysts on the transesterification of this microalgal oil and i need to use molar basis since it's stoichiometry, instead of mass basis. That's why i need to know the molar mass of the oil extracted from Chlorella vulgaris to be able to do conversions. I would appreciate if you can include the source. Thanks

Answer:
The fatty oil in Chlorella vulgaris is a mixture of triglycerides of mainly oleic acid, linoleic acid and α-linolenic acid. The fat content is reported to be 28% but the ratio of different components varies. About the fatty acids composition > http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1432-1033.1970.tb01126.x/pdf
