Can you get brain amoeba like this?

Could i get brain eating amoeba like this?

• well ive had a real dry, stuffy nose just recently and i washed my hands and not thinking i put my fingers in my nose right after just to get it wet so it would feel better. and it didnt go much farther than a little higher than the round part of my nose, and right after i realized what i had done i started compulsively blowing my nose to get anything out. i live in louisiana, btw and the water is supposed to be boiled if you put it in your nose... they say the amoeba enters through your sinuses so could it have entered in any way? please answer i have severe anxiety about this. my parish's water supply is one of the cleanest in the state, i think though if that makes any difference.   You understand how the amoeba gets into the brain. I don't think you would get it by picking your nose but the water on your finger might find its way there. It is fairly rare for the colony of amoeba to find that chink in our Armour. I thought the exposed vulnerable nerve was in one of the sinuses and you basically had to breath water in your nose and swim upside down to get them in there. You are wise to do what you did. The chance of infection was minimal but the consequences are severe. You showed wisdom and not paranoia. It was better safe than sorry. There is very little chance of them living in tap water. They are usually in lakes or ponds at certain times of the year. I never heard of anyone getting it from tap water. It is probably just about impossible for that happen. They must filter it for giardia and other amoeba relatives.
