Answer:
It's hard to identify plants when they aren't in flower. To get a 100% identification, you should collect a specimen and take it to a nearby university or museum with an herbarium and the folks there can identify the plants for you. The roots, leaves, stem, and flowers or fruit should all be collected as any of these can make a difference in identifying plants to the correct species. It would also be helpful to know a general geographic area where these were found (they appear to be from the eastern US). You'll have people here from all over the world, calling it whatever looks like it that grows where they're from. What I'm able to make out based on plants from the areas with which I'm familiar: 1) something from the chickweed family, possibly winter leaves of star chickweed: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=STPU 2) upper portion of a wild yam (Dioscorea sp.) above where the leaves are whorled: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=DIVI4&photoID=divi4_2h.jpg or an herbaceous Smilax sp. 3) partridgeberry: http://plants.usda.gov/java/nameSearch?keywordquery=partridgeberry&mode=comname&submit.x=2&submit.y=9 6) could be another wild yam, or if a vine with a bristly stem, Smilax bona-nox: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=SMBO2&photoID=smbo2_001_avd.tif 7) a sedge 8) garlic mustard (http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ALPE4&photoID=alpe4_001_avp.tif ) or indian plantain (http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ARAT&photoID=meat_001_avd.tif ) cottonwood would have a woody stem, and I don't see that. 11) clearweed http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=PIPU2 or false nettle: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=BOCY&photoID=bocy_006_ahp.tif Best guess from what I can see and plants I know.

I think #4 is the fern genus Pyrrosia (one of the least "ferny-looking" ferns there is) I second the comment that it is often quite difficult to identify a plant from a photo; sometimes it is even difficult to identify them from a pressed specimen, particularly if it isn't fertile (doesn't have flowers or fruit).
