What are 2 plants from Zanzibar?

What are some ways i can make more co2 to grow 2 plants?

  • I am doing a science project about how different levels of co2 will affect plant growth. I already tried using yeast for means of co2, but the plant leaves just got bigger and did not grow in height at all. After that, i tried using dry ice but the plant starting withering. Right now, the plant is even starting to die! IS co2 actually bad for plants? If not, what are other ways to give co2 to plants so that it will help the plants grow?

I wonder if the plant that's dying was affected by the temperature of the dry ice rather than the amount of CO2. I guess it depends on how close to the plant the dry ice was. There are little CO2 cartridges that are used for making carbonated beverages and to power paintguns. If you had one of the things to add the CO2 to make a carbonated beverage, you could add different amounts to an enclosed container (even a clear plastic bag around the plant). I'd do it in the morning so the plant has the CO2 to use during the entire day. Then the next morning, you could add the same dose again. If you have a good pet store around you, there are tablets that release CO2 into water for aquatic plants. There's a lot of concentrated material in them and they're supposed to be used with some kind of regulator (as the tablets go from tablet to gas, there will be a lot of pressure released which could make a bottle like you use for the yeast explode!) and they start to disintegrate if left exposed to the air. But if you have enough plants to experiment with, and you dose every day, you could add 1/16 to maybe 1/8 or 1/4 of a tablet to each plant. I'd experiment first to see how small you can cut the tablets into uniform sizes (1/8? 1/16? 1/32?). If all else fails, and the plants can be grown in individual bags or containers, you could breathe into each. Your breath contains carbon dioxide (besides other things). Maybe using a straw with the bag held tightly around it to keep the CO2 from escaping you could beathe into the straw a different number of times for each plant.

Growing larger leaves is a positive effect, growing taller is very often a negative effect. It used to be a common practice to use a Co2 foggier in green houses, then they went out of fashion, but they are making a come back since studies have demonstrated how effective the addition of CO2 is the greenhouse plant production.
