I have some questions about angiosperms and gymnosperms. Also about monocots and dicots?
-
1.What are some characteristics common to all seeds? 2. What are some ways that seeds are dispersed? 3.What is a cotyledon? :P 4. How do the seeds of Angiosperms differ from those from Gymnosperms? 1.What is the function of the stomata? 2.How do pinnate compound leaves differ from palmate compound leaves? 3.Why are roots, leaves and stems considered to be organs? 4. What is a monocots root structure? 5.What is a monocots stem function? 6.What is a dicots leaf function? 7.What is a monocots leaf pattern? If someone could provide the answeres to these questions it would help me hugely with my botany studies :)

Answer:
1. All seeds develop from the female gametophtye within the ovule. All seeds have packaged food supply, a seed coat, endosperm which stores food in the cotyledons. 2.Seeds can be dispersed through wind (small and light, wings like maple leaves, plumes like dandelions), water and gravity(they are buoyant, coconuts fall because they have heavy and they float in water), animals that eat the food and then poop it out (have acid resistant seed coats and are not fully digested), attachment to animals (dry with hooks, fish hooks, velco like substance, ex. beggar ticks). Also seeds can be explosive and disperse in that way. there is tension in the plant and there is a sudden movemnent! 3. Cotyledon is a source of food. there are 2 cotyledon in Dicots and 1 in the monocots. In monocots the endosperm (ex. in corn-the edible mushy part) is transfered to the cotyledons. 4. Angiosperms are flowering plants that have fruit while gymnosperms are conifer trees like pine trees that have cones. 1. The stomata are openings within the leaf for gas exchange. the have guard cells that control the opening of the stomata. Some stomatas stay closed for a long time if the environment is DRY , to not let much moisture out of the plant. 2. Pinnate is ( i WISH i could draw for you) featherlike. just veins comming out of a main vein. Palmate is like a maple leaf with more intricate veins. Compound means there are several leaves on the stalk. 3. I DONT KNOW sorry 4. too hard to asnwer without drawing,
