How do you describe the chemical equation of photosynthesis in plants? Please help.?
-
I am stuck on this and need some help. I require to write a brief description of the chemical equation of photosynthesis...this is what I have. Balanced chemical equation for photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 12H2O + light energy ==> C6H12O6 + 6O2+ 6H2O Word equation: carbon dioxide + water + light energy ==> produces glucose + oxygen + water Process description in words: Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy into chemical energy by living organisms. Carbon dioxide is where the process of photosynthesis begins. Without carbon dioxide present photosynthesis would not occur. The gas exchange of carbon dioxide and produced oxygen exchange occur in the pore of the leaf, called the stomata (stoma). The stomata is a leaf pore which is located on the skin of the leaf, much like a pore on the human body. The pore expands and opens, taking in a water supply. Water can also be absorbed through the roots of the plants, travelling upwards through the xylem to the leaves, and will occur when leaves experience a water loss. ,<<<<<------------- AM I DOING HIS RIGHT? HOW CAN I EXPLAIN THE REST? I DO NOT KNOW WHY I AM HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE EXPRESSING THIS. THANKS.

Answer:
AM I DOING THIS RIGHT? Yes you are doing it right !! Now the rest is as follows - 1) The water molecules that arrive in the leaf cells ( containing chloroplasts) is split with the help of light energy in to H + and OH - ions .( This is done by chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in the chloroplast Thylakoids ) 2) Hydrogen ions ( H+) are combined with CO2 gas molecules to produce Glucose ( C6 H12 O6 ) The energy for this is in the form of ATP that is manufactured in light reaction . 3) The hydroxyl ions ( OH -) lose their electrons and become free radicals ( Just OH ). 4 ) These free radicals of OH now recombine to form Oxygen gas ( O2 ) and water ( H2O ) 5) That is why Glucose and O2 are products of the reaction . 6) Where as the water molecules are the reactants AS WELL AS products of the reaction and appear on both sides of the equation . The equation you have given - Balanced chemical equation for photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 12H2O + light energy ==> C6H12O6 + 6O2+ 6H2O Word equation: carbon dioxide + water + light energy ==> produces glucose + oxygen + water -- is perfect ....
