How do you plant and grow rice in the usa?

Rice Grown in the USA?

  • Where do they grow rice in the United States?

  • Answer:

Some of the slaves in the United States were put to farming rice in the South. Before the 1900's the Chinese had to import rice from China or Hawaii. Finally they learned how to grow short grained rice around the Sacramento valley. In Texas and Louisiana they have grown long grained rice which is favored by the Chinese. (The Japanese like the short grained rice) Technically wild rice is different from regular rice and can grow further north in Wisconsin and Minesota and grows in more water than regular rice. In the middle East they have very long rice. It is rice that is grounded up and processed like noodles. Barley can also look like rice but can grow in more temperate weather.

The fellow is correct about Missouri; the southeast "bootheel." Also in Arkansas. But I suspect more production in the "deep South"; Louisiana, Mississippi & Alabama.
