Does Humidity Affect The Growth Of Plants, And If So, In What Way?

  • To be specific, Violet Pansy Plants. Please give detailed answers, links are welcome.

  • Answer:

As humidity decreases, more water is transpired from the leaves. If more water is transpired than the plant is taking up and translocating, the stomata will begin to close. The plant is losing less water, but it is also taking in less carbon dioxide through the stomata. This means less carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, which means a reduced production of carbohydrates and decreased plant growth. High humidity can lead to disease problems.
