Anyone know what type of plant?

Does anyone know what type of plant this is?

  • I found this plant behind my house in my woods. It is pointy and has lots of seed inside. Some sort of pod, I don't know, but I would like to know what it is and how to get rid of it.

  • Answer:

What you have described sounds very much like a plant that grows in some woods and copses and is called by a few names. Cuckoo-pint is one of them and it is closed in the night but opens in daytime showng red berries and is poisonous. If you have any children dig it up with a fork and put it somewhere where they cant see it. look in the link below and it could be what you saw.

Two things would really help out here - one, knowing a general geographic region where you're finding this plant, and two, a digital photo. You can add both to this question by using the "edit" icon under your question to "add details". To add a link for a digital photo, you need to upload a picture to a photosharing website like Flickr, Photobucket, Tinypic, etc. and copying and pasting the direct link to your photo.
