  They used to rent them on Long Island, but they've been so severely restricted in the area that you hardly see any of them anymore, let alone places to rent them. I boat up on the north shore in the Huntington area, and they used to speed around all over the place, recklessly doing whatever they wanted. Now the town has special heavy restrictions on them and you don't see anywhere near as many. If I had to guess why nobody rents them, I'd guess they've made the insurance for the rental companies astronomical to stop them from popping up here.
