Do you have the skills and knowledge to sail solo around the world?

What do you think of a 16 year old girl attempting to sail solo around the world?

  • http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/6113525/solo-teen-sailor-buoyed-by-support/4/ do you think she should be allowed to do this taking into account that already she collided with a tanker while attempting to sail to sydney from queensland do you think her parents should stop it or the government find some way to stop her considering that a few years ago there was a man rescued doing the same thing and there was comments made about the cost of the rescue and if this allowed to continue pretty soon there will be someone younger wanting to do the same thing just to be the youngest if she does it then she can say she was the youngest but if she fails how will her parents feel saying our daughter was the youngest to die trying please every one should send an email to the prime minister office in canberra to get it stopped i had friends killed in car accidents not much older than she is and also my best friend lost his 13 year old daughter

  • Answer:

Let her do it and if she gets into any trouble, let her parents go and get her at their own expense. I'm sick to death of these IDIOTS who want to do these stupid things, and when they get themselves into trouble, the good old Australian tax payer can bail them out. Go and do it, but at your OWN expense.

i say just let her do it. If its something she loves to do and her parents are ok with it, then who are we to say that she shouldn't do it?

NICOLE

It is no good writing to Canberra, they can't legislate against stupidity. I predict they will be looking for this kid in the not too distant future. She is going to end up as shark poop, or sharing a pirates hammock. I think most wise people would sooner find there fame on terra firma. I just feel sorry for the people that will have to go out in shitty weather to find her ,when she does drop off the radar.

Redstar

I think people should be supportive of her and get off her back. I believe she has prepared herself as well as she can and if she wants to do this then nobody should have the power to stop her. I think the people saying she should be stopped are in a way jealous of her courage and determination. @Redstar - Why do you feel sorry for the people who may have to go out and rescue her? That's their job and what they spent years training for and what they love to do. That's like feeling sorry for a fireman because he has to go put out a fire. @Henry - Pay for the rescue? Next time you're driving you're car on a road that has a high % of car crashes and have an accident, should you have to pay for your rescue because you drove on that dangerous road? Give me a break.

ROTFL--- You cant email the government (well if your in australia) kevin rudd doesn't give a ****. Anyway just let her do it, but if she fails she pays for the rescue. If she dies she can't sue.
