Griptape on a skimboard?

I want to find a more cost efficient way to stay on my skimboard ... do you think using skate grip tape with waterproof glue would work? if not give me ideas cuz i have a weird shaped board and i want traction pads but they are a different shape (board is a weir ovaly shape) :O

Answer:
Don't put grip tape. That will hurt your feet when you jump on. If traction pads don't work just do a really good job waxing your board with surf wax.
