What size surfboard should I get?

I have never surfed before , I live in the northeast, I'm 6'2" tall and 210 lbs. What size surfboard should I get?
-
Answer:
larger, within reason, is better for a starter. The increased flotation will help you catch waves early on while you are still learning. A fun board is a good option to learn on, but i don't really know what size swell you typically get up there. In a short board I would think a 6'5" or even a little bigger board would be good to learn on as long as you don't get really large swell, that's just a guideline as it depends on the thickness of the board and its overall shape too. You can learn on smaller but you'll have to paddle harder for the wave and drop in later, both of which make catching the wave more difficult
