Is the Buzzer a good fly for fly fishing?

What is a good beginner fly fishing reel?

  • I have a fenwick ff80-3 that my dad gave to me and im looking for a good beginner reel to go with it so i can try fly fishing in about 2 weeks from now, maybe a kit that has some flys with it as well and the string that goes with it. Does anyone know of a good beginner set up i can use. Thanks alot.

One important thing to remember about most fly reels (the exception is hard core saltwater reels) is that it is simply a place to keep your line. I would recommend the Pflueger reels, I have two of them and they work well. http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/products.php?p=33

You will find it tough to find just a reel, line, and flies kit. Most kits come with a rod as well. Since you already have a rod, I would recommend the Browning Midas. This is what I started out using a few years ago and it was a great starter reel. I recently just upgraded to a more expensive Pflueger. I love it but for just starting out you can't go wrong with the Midas. I found my Browning Midas here at this website; http://www.fishsoutheastern.com/xcart/home.php?cat=405 They also have some other fly reels if you wanted to go a little more expensive off the bat. Hope this helps
