What's the difference between a Wakeboard and a Kiteboard?

  • What's the difference between a Wakeboard and a Kiteboard??

  • Answer:

Kiteboards vary from surfboard style to small wake style. They may seem like wakeboards but are designed to be used differently to cope with riding waves and holding an edge whilst being pulled in all directions. It is possible to use a wakeboard to kitesurf if you ride on a really flat lake. Otherwise staying upwind becomes very difficult. Fins help this. The most obvious difference is the use of full bindings on a wakeboard. Kiteboards usually have soft bindings which allow foot out maneuvers and bailing when necessary.Find your local kiteshop and check out some boards...they'll be happy to show you what you'll need as they come in many styles and sizes for different riders and riding styles.
