How long should my surfboard be?

How long should the surfboard suppose to be for a 6'0" guy?

  • I'm planning to buy a new surfboard, and start surfing but idk how long it should be! So any suggestion?

  • Answer:

You want something between 7'6" abd 8'6". The trick is you want something floaty enough to catch a wave easily, but small enough your feet are in the correct postion as soon as you stand up. If the board is to long, you'll have to walk it to turn it or get in the wave.

You will want to get a longboard. The thicker and wider the better - it will be easier to catch waves and more stabile. Go for something over 9 feet long. If you go and talk to the guys at your local surf shop to will help you choose a good board. The Surfboard Man http://www.thesurfboardman.com/

If you're new, I'd suggest anything over 8'0 feet. If you want to start shortboarding, slowly work your way down. 8'0 -> 7'2, -> 6'6 etc. Your final board height for you will probably 6'2.
