What is the temperature of the beach water in Myrtle Beach right now?

    Depends on what you think is cold water. There are people out there in the water this week - it's not too bad. By next weekend it will be even better. The folks here from Canada think it's really hot here. We locals think it's still a tad chilly but not too cold to enjoy our beach. One surf report says we're at 74F water temperature right now and 71F air temperature (it's 1AM) which should feel warm enough. Mid-day highs have been being high 70's/low 80's lately. [I don't trust that water temperature report, it's probably not quite that high. Storms today took out our most reliable weather monitor though.] Plan on Memorial Day weekend to be plenty hot enough for swimming but expect some thunderstorms too - it's not only the start of our beach season but it's also our thunderstorm season.
