Should I surf or wakeboard?
-
Hi there. I live in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am looking to get into a water sport, but I don't know if I should start with surfing or wakeboarding... I have tried both before but they were a very long time ago. I would just like to know your opinions, and maybe what you think I should give a try and why... I'm a 15 year old female and I am athletic but not like crazy athletic. Also, keep in mind the area that I live in... Convenient location for either one, but I'm not too sure which path to follow. Also maybe some tips to get me started? Thanks a lot (: Oh, also, which is better exercise?

Answer:
When you surf, you are limited to days when there are waves. However, you can surf alone (don't need a boat driver), you can surf with a crowd, you don't pay for gas to surf, and you don't stand behind some smelly a$$ed boat to have fun. I live in a City, i surf to get away from all that exhaust crap. Surf, it has 'soul'. I have been surfing for 42 years. I went surfing last weekend, all by myself. It was peaceful and exciting at the same time. No boat, no driver and the only noise was the sound of the gulls and waves.

i have done both and personally, i like surfing a lot better. you should go with what ever you feel you would like better, but i like surfing. it is a lot more exercise than wakeboarding because you have to paddle around with a board and if shortboarding, pump down the face of the wave for speed. it will definetly keep you in shape. out in the water, all the guys in the line up are nice and you can make some new friends. and when you catch a wave, it feels like you are flying over the water. i dont really get that feeling when i am wakeboarding. its not really the best sport for me. surfing is hard but i love it and i hope you do too, but just try both again and see which one you like. and you dont need a boat for surfing all you need is a board, an ocean, and mother nature deciding that the surfers should get some good waves for the day

Wakeboarding is easier to learn, surfing is more fun. If you learn to surf 1st you can already wakeboard. If you learn to wakeboard 1st you still will have to learn to surf. I do both and surfing is about 134 times better than wakeboarding. Wakeboard when there is no surf would be my recommendation. Both sports are great exercise. Just do it!

Depends; Wakeboarding - very hard on your kneees if they suck like mine. Surfing - easier in my opinion and way more fun!
