Can I become a good rower?

How can I become a lightweight rower?

  • Hi everyone, I'm an 18 year old (6'0, 169 lb) rower. I'm entering college in the fall and would like to row as a lightweight. Currently, my 2k is a 6:31.3, 5k is a 1:46 split, and hour of power is a 1:51.6 split. Any advice on how to drop the last 9 pounds so I can achieve my goal? I've been doing hard erging for 90 minutes per day (45 minutes morning, 45 minutes afternoon), and following a strict diet. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Answer:

I would continue what you're doing but add running, if you don't already. Running is a good way to burn fat and help tone you. The weight wont disappear in one day but it should work over a period of time. Also for dieting, it's best to eat more once every 2 weeks or so, or your body will change to less calories and stop losing weight.
