What surfboard should I start with?

What size surfboard is best to start off with if you are about 6'0 foot tall?

    all these answers are wrong....your first board should be at least 14"-18" bigger than you are, longboards and fun shapes are perfect for beginners, and whats even better for beginners are those new soft boards. you want something long, thick and as round as possible. your first day in the water is going to be filled with burning shoulders, lots of falling down and tons of frustration...this is called the learning curve. a beginner with a 6'4" shortboard is nothing but a hazard, to yourself and to everyone else in the water. longboards are easy to paddle, easy to catch waves and have no sharp points for you to fall on, which means you won't end your first session with a trip to the emergency room. do yourself a favor and get a lesson from someone....forget about board size, they'll give you what you need and then teach you all the stuff that's really important.

the bigger the surfboard the easy it is to surf cuz u have more balance... when me and my friend went surfing, he had a bigger surf board than me ever though he was up to my shoulders... basically find something around ur height... or bigger... lol....

Because you've just started surfing, a good all around short board would work fine. The normal board size suggestion would be 6'4 - 6'8 x 19 - 19 3/4 x 2 1/2 - 2 5/8. I would suggest going to a surf shop to get fitted tho.

6' or under to 5'9" with a weight of 30% of your body weight. Roll up the nose a little and install a slower skag.

I would recomend a good size longboard. It would be a lot easier to get up and keep your balance. I would suggest a board that is about 7' tall.
