What is the best surf board to buy?

  • I really want to get in to surfing but I'm to young to get a advanced surfer surf board and I don't want to have to buy two surf boards and its kinda hard to rent them a lot...what should I do...please help...your bud D man

    If you are about to take up surfing DO NOT BUY A SURFBOARD ON E-BAY!! You don't know anything near enough about the sport to not get ripped off. Surfing is an ocean sport. before you decide to surf, decide to know and understand the ocean. Learn to be at home with its currents, rips, undertows and sometimes BIG waves. The original surfers were watermen (and women, both men and women surfed, but certain waves were reserved for royalty). I don't just mean being good at swimming in a pool, the ocean can be very unforgiving. I have seen lots of really good pool swimmers have to get rescued. You have to learn surf etiquette (so the experienced surfers in the line up don't want to drown you), how to paddle and take off on a wave, and how to ride a wave. Lessons are usually the best way to start, unless you are an adolescent or young adult with lots of pals who surf who can teach you. Go to a real surf shop. The folks there can hook you up with lessons. They will even rent you a board to leran on. Don't buy a board until you are sure you really want to keep surfing. Bottom line is GO TO A SURF SHOP, not a computer. I have been surfing since 1966, and I still get my advice and information from industry professionals at the shops where I surf.

buy what you can afford. my first board was used (very used). it had duct tape on the rail. but it got me through a year till i could afford a better board, which was used. my third board was new.
