What should i do with this boat?

• i was buying a boat from somebody we had agreed upon a price if the boat ran and when she had title in hand. she let me take the boat to see if i could get it running after weeks of calling and checking the progress with the title, she has made no progress what so ever so i took it upon myself to try and figure out how to get a title for the boat. turns out when she bought the boat she never had the title transferred into her name so it was still in previous owners name. i contacted PO and he agreed to work with me to get title in my name. so here i am with a boat with a title in my name that i havent paid anything on. the seller has not tried to contact me about the boat in months but im scared to put any money into the boat without paying for it. thoughts?

  If I wanted the boat, I would contact her and give her the money that you said you'd pay if a title was acquired and it ran (assuming the title cost you nothing). If the title cost you something (it cost you your time for one, and then any other prices), I would contact her and say that you'd like the boat, explain how you got a title for it since she couldn't get one. Then offer her a price that has your money and efforts (in getting the title) subtracted from the originally agreed price, and tell her how much you want subtracted and why it should be, etc. I would think that'd work out well. If she declines, she will probably request that you give her the title. I would then refuse (probably), on the basis that she didn't live up to her end of the agreement, and she should sell it to you (and upon the fact anyone else will have the same problem since you won't give the title, so she won't be able to sell it).
