What type of wetsuit should I buy?

Where can I buy a wetsuit?

  • I want to buy a wetsuit for swimming and surfing. Where can I buy a wetsuit?

  • Answer:

If you want to buy one on-line, I recommend these folks, Wetsuit Warehouse. They sell every major brand and have very helpful salespeople if you call in your order, who will help you pick the style, thickness and fit you need for what you plan to use it for: http://www.wetsuitwearhouse.com/?SR=sr3_158372923_go&gclid=CL3ntLiLu6sCFdk55QodqT5ScA If you prefer to buy one in person, I would recommend looking for a dive or surf shop in your area. The wetsuits at regular sporting good stores tend to not be the greatest selection or quality. Fit and design are really important -- for surfing you want one that is really flexible and has knee pads, which many regular dive suits do not. Sizing can be tricky -- some brands like Oneill and Body Glove run really small and can be too tight, even if you buy what the size chart says. Others, like AWI and Excel are generously sized. You can also buy wetsuits very cheaply on Ebay if you don't mind used ones, but you need to know what you are looking for and you take a chance on fit. Another location for inexpensive suits is Sierra Trading Post who sells a lot of discounted overstock wet suits. But often their selection isn't the greatest for surfing type suits. http://www.sierratradingpost.com
