What surfboard should I buy?

I'm a 21 y.o. male. I live in England and would mainly be surfing on the south coast and up in the North of Scotland (Tiree). I weigh 75kg and I am 5'8"1/2. I have done a month's worth of surfing in Australia and I initially bought a shortboard around 6'3". I had no problem standing up on it and surfing it but catching waves was initially pretty hard and because I already knew how to surf I gave up on it a little bit. I then swapped it for a fish board around 5'8". It was a quad fin. I really enjoyed it. It was quick to ride, easy to paddle, could catch waves a lot earlier than a shortboard. I did find it pretty hard to duck dive under big waves. And, I think it might have suited someone a bit heavier than me. I am looking to buy a new surfboard and was talking to someone about fish boards and they told me that fish's can affect your actual surfing technique in that they are quite skatey and not good for turning. I am physically fit and have good upper body strength. As to my surfing ability, I am quick to stand up and can ride the waves right across to the side but have yet to try any carving or anything. I'm looking for an all round board that goes well in small and big waves and that won't hinder my long term surfing technique. Sorry for the long question. Hopefully some of you can help me.
