What type of jet ski can I get for under $4000?

  Speed kills. If you are just starting out, this is not a good idea to get a fast ski. More important, you want one that is reliable, and handles well. Yamaha will provide you with a reliable, low maintenance ski, whether it is a runabout or a stand-up. Age is not your main concern. How the ski has been kept is. How did the owner store it each winter? Was it left in water or used in salt water are always key questions to ask. My ski is tricked out, an ultra light kevlar-carbon fiber combination hull that you can't touch for less than $18,000, and I have been competing in pro freestyle for the last 10 years. I never need to floor it, and don't want to. This is the best advice I can give you after 25 years of jet ski experience that has taken me all across North America. the next best advice is wear a helmet and protective eye wear & shoes, and always, always wear a life jacket. The last 4 people that did not heed my advice were fished out of Lake Michigan dead. This is no bullshit. Hope you find a ski you are happy with, and you ride smart and safe. One last note, do not buy a Yamaha Raider, poor hull design, prone to flipping during fast turns. Later Bro.
