How do you block any web pages from the computer?

How can i block web pages from appearing at my computer screen?

  • 2 days ago commercials web pages(music,insurance,etc.)started appearing at my computer screen,I tried to see if something was downloaded in my computer to allow these pages,but didn't find anything.so what do i need to do stop these annoying pages?

    sounds like a redirect virus do a scan see if anything comes up both spyware and virus scan. check popup blocker see if it accidently got cut off. if all is clear and it still happens go to tools/internet options/restricted sites and add the urls of those sites to the list that should stop em.

Try downloading and running adaware. It will remove almost all mallware/spyware. Update the software and run a full system scan. Also update your Antivirus and run a complete scan. This is what is commonly called Adware and the affending programs can usually be trapped and deleted by a good spyware program.

Sounds like spyware. Try running Ad-Aware, (free program), which can be found here: http://www.lavasoft.com Also make sure any anti-virus software you are running is up to date. If you do not have current software, you can download AVG, (another free program), here: http://www.grisoft.com Finally, try disabling Windows Messenger Service. (this has nothing to do with MSN/Windows Messenger chat programs, but is an exploit that advertisers are able to exploit.) Click on: Start-->Run-->type services.msc and hit Enter. Scroll down the list until you see Messenger. Right-click and select Properties. Select Disabled, then OK, and close the Services window. Hopefully one of these tips will work for you. Cheers
