What could be changing my homepage from yahoo to google, mid-use, if I've just cleared my computer of spyware?

you more than likely used a link to make yahoo your homepage...so when you ran your antispy softwares you removed the BHO that made yahoo your homepage over google. to set your homepage directly, to avoid this from happening again, surf to the yahoo page you want (if you are signed in to get your page make sure you checked the 'remember me' box at tthe login) once you are on the page you want - choose the 'tools' menu and click internet options. on the general page under the homepage setting click the 'use current' button - click apply - then goto the 'security' tab and hi-lite 'trusted sites' click the sites button and add the same site you set to home page to your trusted list. (copy/paste, to avoid problems)
