I have currently got one of these very annoying MBS pop up bill saying that i have to pay £39.99 or face legal charges which is totally inappropiate and dishonest! I phoned the company to ask what they could do and not only was i left waiting for them to pick up the phone for a whole 20 mins at natinal rate as they kept reminding me, and when they did answer the phone they were very rude, I am currently wondering what i can do as i would rather go to court than pay this bill. I feel its very wrong how they manipulate people into their website then resort to blackmailing people for the money. please reply thank u for your time

Answer:
Firstly update and run your anti-virus product. You can also run a free online scan as well as some malware can actually corrupt or disable your resident security products. Here are a few online scans you can run: Trend - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Panda - http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm Norton - http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym Second download, update and run scans using the following products: SuperAntispyware http://superantispyware.com/ Spybot S&D (free version requires manual updating) http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ AVG AntiSpyware http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5 Adaware from Lavasoft (free version requires automatic updating) http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php (These programs can be run in Safe Mode after downloading and updating) Third, after cleaning your system, disable System Restore, reboot and re-enable System Restore when you log back on. This will clear the malware that may still be lurking in System Restore, which could be reinstalled should you need to rollback at some point. Additionally, a reboot may be required to complete the malware removal process. Lastly, you may also want to install the following tool. It is free and requires you to check for and enable updates manually once a week or so. It uses no system resources. SpywareBlaster (inoculates, not a spyware removal tool) http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html ================================ If you cannot get it removed after the above, you may want to join a tech group that specializes in providing manual instructions on malware eradication. There are several methods to remove these pop ups. Refer to: http://michaelpollitt.com/wordpress/?p=1... Methods are in there. You need to read it all. Important that you send your IE History to Michael as he is investigating certain aspects of MBS. How to obtain IE History is explained in his site. Also see: http://andymerrett.co.uk/2007/03/03/micr... Lots af methods to rid yourself of MBS in above so read all the postings in there. An easy way is to download Prevx2.0 (a free Antivirus) Their website is: www.prevx.com When the site opens, you will see a ‘Download Now’ button which offers a unique free trial for a month. Follow the instructions and Prevx will search all the files on your computer and place the files that are causing problems, into a ‘Jail’. Others have reported that Prevx has found other offending files (not connected with MBS) which their normal Antivirus had not picked up. You can delete the files in the ‘Jail’ and you will have your computer back in working order. The Prevx 2.0 antivirus offer is very fair and genuine. After 1 month they will not force you to purchase their protection but it is half the price of all the others on the market and, in my view, well worth having. Also System Restore can be used: Explained by 'Sussex': There appears to be a solution using system restore. I’ll post what I remember was done to resolve this on our pc. If anyone sees any flaws in this, please don’t hesitate to correct. The switching off and switching on the System Restore points is pretty crucial, I understand. Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore Select a Restore Point well before the activity Restore System Then go into the Control Panel > System > System Restore Check the box which turns off System Restore > OK to apply Then do the reverse (i.e. Control Panel >System >System Restore > UNcheck the box > OK to apply ) This last action turns System Restore back on. Fingers crossed, no more pop ups in the last few days, and a check of the system 32 folder (where the stuff was located) shows it to be clear Please note that the turning system restore on and off needs to be done through the Control Panel. Also if you Google for 'MBS' or 'MBS Bill' you will find lots of Antivirus which will help. Many are free, some you pay. Good Luck

Just ignore it. You should be able to block the pop-up. Let them try and take you to court, they will be left with egg on their face. And don't make any more phone calls to them , they are making a fortune out of you.

While not familiar with MBS, this is almost certainly some malware installed on your system. First, don't contact the company, that only confirms that they have gotten a hit from you. Second, don't click on the popup as that will likely lead to additional things burrowing into your system. Run an anti-virus scan, if you have anti-virus software installed (Nortan & McAfee are 2 big ones) then update their virus definitions and run a complete scan. Often though, they won't find anything. If you do not have any anti-virus. Download Avast! or AVG, both are freeware for personal use and excellent programs (I would argue better than the previous two mentioned). Next, download and run some spyware removal programs. I would suggest SpyBot and AdAware. Both are decent freeware tools that will find installers, registry keys and the like which are usually the culprit to these type of issues. Running a Google search for the programs will yield their download sites. These type of popups can be pesky to remove as they usually have registry keys associated with them that get rebuilt upon reboot of the system if you can't find the installer associated with. You can also run msconfig to see what programs are currenlty running and "make assumptions" to which is what. This can be error prone if you aren't sure what you are doing though and lead to further system problems. The same thing goes for editing your registry without an understanding of what it does. As a fail-safe solution to rid yourself of the issue, you can always reformat your harddrive. Of course, that will remove everything and require a complete re-install of anything you want on the system, but it will surely clean any malware off the system too. Lastly, items like this are typically obtained from "questionable sites/sources" through browser loopholes and downloads. If you stay away from such places you likely won't encounter the issue again. Try using a more secure browser if you aren't currenlty either. Firefox is a nice option.

Micro Billing Systems (MBS) is not malware so it is pointless recommending anti-virus/anti-spyware programs. Follow Doctor John's instructions he seems to be the only one who knows the correct answer.
