Find all IP addresses on router?

How can I find my router's IP password?

  • Uh, I can't open my router's IP where I could access the control panel (Where you change the Security and security key; enabling stuff and that). I need the WEP key for my iPad so is there any way I could get it? Another thing is that my router's trial expired, so is there any connection between me accessing my router's control panel? If the answer is to change my router or call my ISP, please do tell me if that's the only way to re-access my Router IP password.

  • Answer:

Your router does "not" have an IP address. Your computer does. First locate the ten digit code located between "[ ]" . Then enter that security code into your device. Trial period? Either you buy or rent the router. You may have a trial period with your internet. If that is the case you really need to pay your bill.

The WEP is usually located on the router itself and is a nine digit numerical code. If you're running Microsoft Windows Vista or 7 you can view your router's IP address by clicking on the start button, click on the Network tab, then click Network and Sharing Center. Now a map of your PC to the internet should be visible. Above that is View full map, click on that and once the full network map comes up hover over your router and the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses will be viewable.

Your Router will have 2 IP addresses. The LAN IP address is what your computer talks to directly. You can find this out by opening a command prompt and (in windows) typing ipconfig. Look at the Default Gateway IP address (it is normally a number that starts with 192.168.something.something) The WAN IP address is what your router uses to talk to the internet. You can find this out by going to www.whatismyip.com. Your Router itself shouldn't have a trial, but it is possible (however unlikely) that some router management software that came with the router is indicating a trial. You don't NEED management software for most home routers, you can access it by going to the webpage found at the LAN ip address above...and typing a userid & password. If you don't know your Router's administration password...you can do a RESET of the router, erasing all settings. Before you do this, make sure you have any userids and passwords you might need to connect to the internet. If you do know your Router's administration password, you can go into the administration panel and either view or reset your WEP key for wireless security. If you can, I'd recommend you use WPA as it is much stronger than WEP.

Your routers trial period? A router is a physical object you buy, not something you rent. Your ISP cannot help you obtain your WEP password unless they are the ones that provided you with the router. You could try to break a WEP password using a brute force program, but you would need a laptop, dedicated to that task alone, for several days to several weeks.
