How to get rid off Windows Product Activation error '0x80004005' in winxp?

• I changed some settings using a software to remove the 'Windows not genuine' message .This has change the registry files and I dont know which one has it changed.When I rebooted and tried to login to the windows am getting the above message on startup.Clicking OK on it isnt allowing me to logon to windows and cant see my desktop.But I could logon to windows in Safe mode.There is no icon to uninstall the software which I installed.Can you pleaseeeeee help me get get rid of this popup and allow me to logon to windows..plzzzz help me and thank you very much for it

  I do not know which software you used to remove the genuinity message from appearing at startup. but i am sure you had downloaded one of the third party applications from website with a selfextracting exe file. correct me if i am wrong. As for the solution, you can go to the registry [only if you can conversant working with system file, or it can do unrepairable damages] from 'Start --> run --> regedit --> ok' and go to 'Find' from the Edit menu. type the name of the file you installed and click ok. when the file /folder appears, press 'Delete' [Be careful !! Check if it the same file and delete, otherwise God help you !] Now click Find Next / F3 from the Edit menu and do likewise until you are rid of all those mess. Reboot your system and check out !! If nothing works i still hold the best medicine. It might be embedded as a BHO file or could be a malware program rooted in the registry. Do the low level format of your machine and it sweeps clean all mistakes you might have inadvertently done!! But dont forget to take a backup and blame me later, ha.. ha..Hope it works !!
