What are pop-ups in my computer?

Popups about my computer crashing? Weird shortcuts on my desktop, and slow speed. Is it a virus?

  • Theres popups everytime I click anywhere on my desktop, and there all about antivirus sites? When I try to open any program, it just says not responding, or takes forever to load (forever meaning 10+minutes). What could it be? Theres all kinds of antivirus/virus pop ups claiming to be improtant, but this never happened before. Even when the internet is closed, the pop ups still come up. Also there was a new shortcut on my desktop for a programm called SYSTEM SECURITY? It was a gold and black diagnol striped sheild. I have no clue why its there, I never downloaded it. I have AVG 8.0 and CCleaner, and Ive ran both numerous times, but it cant find the problem. Also when I run add/remove hardware, the Systems Security isnt even there!? Theres popups saying my computer is in dandger of crashing and all that, but theres no windows warning on the taskbar. Whats going on and how can I fix it?
